2012 VW Beetle Specs & Reviews

2012 VW Beetle Specs and Reviews The New Sport VW Beetle

For those of us who lived through the 1970s it is great to see that Volkswagen is still producing the beloved Beetle. In February 1970 the Beetle overtook the Ford Model T as the most popular car ever made.

Although the 2012 Beetle has a flatter roofline it has retained the traditional curved snout, round headlamps and bulged fenders which has made it stand out from any other car.

The New Beetle has been re-designed to be more sporty and less feminine, as the original Beetle was predominantly driven by women. It is a bit larger and roomier than previous models.

The car is being built at the company's Pueblo Mexico complex and is expected to arrive in the American showrooms by the summer of 2011.

To bring this model into the 21st Century the new model features Bluetooth integration with a touch screen and a top brand audio system and lighting.

The body shape is more sporty without losing the famous Beetle look mentioned above, with stiffer suspension, sports seats, 19" wheels and dual exhaust.

There is a Gasoline engine with a capacity of 2.0 litre turbo and it will produce 270 horsepower strength and 5-speed transmission for all versions. There is the option of choosing 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 2012 Beetle series is designed for turbo engines which have an automatic dual clutch. All versions will use front-wheel drive mechanism and come with a 5-speed gearbox designed to operate on manual transmission mechanism.

Initially the 2012 Beetle will be the 2-door hatchback Sedan which will be available from mid-2011, The convertible will be available from 2012.

They allowed the new car to appear on the Oprah Winfrey Show, but this was just a teaser. The car appeared in silhouette so this brand-new model remained just as mysterious after the show as it was before it was screened.

The VW Beetle was the best selling car in the world, produced from 1983-2003, with its population reaching more than 21 million units until the record was broken by the Toyota Carola. The modern Beetle was first marketed in 1998.
